Overview of the project

Farnham Maltings is the premier arts and crafts organisation in the South East, central to ensuring the vitality of literary, performing and visual arts for the community. The website wasn’t reflecting the eclectic range of activities, the online booking system was creaking under demand, and it wasn’t appealing to the diverse target audience. Our challenge was to design and build a beautiful user-friendly website, reflecting the Maltings’ offerings and attracting a broad audience.

We are based in the Maltings, so we had some first-hand knowledge, but in the planning phase, we also conducted stakeholder interviews to analyse site usage. From this, we simplified the structure of the site and introduced innovative thinking around navigation, which involved using expandable fluid java script-based boxes. The result is a beautiful, easy to scroll website with no hidden content.

“The process was open and positive. The team never said something wasn’t possible. The new site helped us to express complicated ideas, simply.”
